________________________________________________________
few weeks ago, you had the opportunity to rate the community work of Tibia's customer support in our weekly poll. An overwhelming majority of you wished for an improvement of the community work. Actually, we have been working on the idea of intensifying already existing activities and expanding into new areas for quite some time. The communication between you, our dear players, and CipSoft is essentially important. It is your feedback, your ideas and your criticism that helps us improving Tibia and our services further. Also, we know that you would like to be informed in return: what is going on behind the scenes, what features are planned for the next update, what do we think about various topics - you have many questions and we would like to provide you with answers in a more direct and interactive way.
So it is about time to upgrade.
We are more than happy to announce the establishment of a department that focuses on community work, on the exchange of information, ideas and thoughts between you and CipSoft. Dear players, please welcome our new department Community Management. The team we field consists of two young ladies, former customer support members, who are eager to get things started. Our new community managers Rejana (formerly known as Alguzara) and Mirade (formerly known as Neofine) are already bursting with ideas. In this featured article the community managers will tell you what is new and give you an insight on what is to come.
At first, however, we would like to explain the new naming as we decided to change the titles and abbreviations of CipSoft members. So far, all customer support members have been called community managers and could be recognised by the abbreviation "CM" in front of their name. With the establishment of a separate community management department, Tibia's customer support is no longer responsible for tasks involving community work such as coordinating the fansites. The support team focuses on helping whenever you have a problem in Tibia, processing reports, answering emails and taking care of the voluntary helpers. Since many of their tasks involve rule enforcement they will be called gamemasters from now on, or "GM" for short.
To avoid confusion with our voluntary gamemasters, you can still recognise customer support members by their special ingame outfit, a blue overall and a red cape. On the boards, the title "Customer Support" will appear right under their name whenever they make a post. The names of all customer support members can be found in the About Tibia section under About CipSoft. From now on, the abbreviation "CM" will only appear in front of the new community managers' names. They also have a special ingame outfit, they wear a blue overall with a green cape.
Please keep in mind that CM Rejana and CM Mirade are no longer members of the customer support so they are not involved in any kind of rule enforcement. They are solely responsible for community work.
A few weeks ago, we started to make plans and preparations. As a first step, the new department took over some of the former customer support tasks such as the polls, the feedback form, the news and the featured article. The previous featured article, for example, was already written by a community manager. Also, one of the community management's main tasks is to collect, evaluate and forward your feedback and ideas to our development team. The proposal board and the weekly polls already serve as important tools players can use to state their opinion and present their ideas. Additionally, we will intensify the use and evaluation of the feedback form in the community section on our website so you are very welcome to express your ideas and opinions there.
But we have even more in store for you! There are two new community boards which will be checked by the community managers on a regular basis. On the discussion board, Tibia topics of general interest and importance can be discussed with us. Moreover, you can comment on the latest featured article or the latest news in our brand new feedback threads. There will be a direct link to the respective thread at the end of every article or news. The event board is the right place to advertise an event server-wide, to swap event ideas and tips with others. There, you can also find events created and organised by CipSoft every now and then which will always be designed for the entire Tibia community. If you are looking for an event to participate in, check out our event schedule. Before you start posting on the boards, please read carefully the announcements on the discussion board and the event board for further information.
And now, we would like to tell you some bits and pieces about us so you can get to know us better.
Rejana, can you tell our players a little bit more about Mirade?
"Sure! About a year ago she joined the customer support team. Right from the beginning she impressed everybody with her clear and structured way to argue, so it didn't really take long before she was trusted to deal with a very important group of our customers - our voluntary helpers. She first assisted Iscen on the Tutor Board, then helped supporting the gamemaster team. When it became clear that there was going to be a new department inside CipSoft that would deal more with community work instead of rule enforcement, she applied for the job, and was chosen. I'm very happy to work together with her. She has a brilliant mind and many fun ideas. She's hardly ever in a bad mood, likes to laugh, and appears at the office a lot earlier than many other people. So when I arrive a bit later, still a bit sleepy, she manages to brighten my day with a cheerful 'Good morning'. Her cheerfulness is also shown by a couple of colourful figurines that decorate her desk. In order to be able to introduce her in this article, I have asked her a couple of questions, which will help me tell you what kind of person she is: She prefers cats over dogs, which tells us that most likely she has a very independent mind. Her preferring vegetables over meat might hint at a non-aggressive nature. That suspicion is confirmed by her server choice. She prefers Non-PvP over PvP, which lets us suspect a peaceful attitude. However, she does not fear any confrontations. When asked about what vocation she would choose, she went for the knight. So she's a front-row woman, with a clear and independent mind, who doesn't want to cause any harm, but will fight for what she thinks is right. If she's stressed out, she can easily relax by letting the sun shine on herself on the beach. If it's cold, or raining, a nice game on a console would do the trick, or simply a bite from a chocolate bar could cheer her up again."
So Mirade, now it is your turn, how would you describe Rejana?
"Well, she's one of the oldies considering how long she is already a member of the CipSoft team. Most of you have probably heard of her already, either back in the days when she was still the master tutor or, more recently, as being the head gamemaster. She did a great job and got along well with our voluntary helpers due to her kindness, wisdom and good sense of humour. She applied for a position in the new department and got it, yay! She's a great match for the job - very educated, helpful and a good listener with an open mind. We often share a laugh and whenever she's on holiday, I miss her witty remarks and cheerful comments. We really enjoy brainstorming together and she usually has a lot of inspiring and imaginative ideas. I'm deeply impressed by her skills in knowledge management. She collects, organises and stores important information in a very neat and tidy way, everything is easy to find. And she has a motor scooter so I guess she likes the freedom of the open road. I have also heard that she's a good singer but I still have to find out whether or not this is true. She asked me some questions about my likes and dislikes and here are the results of what I asked her in return. Her favourite seasons are spring and autumn, which tells us she prefers the transition periods to the extremes of heat or cold. It seems that she likes it colourful - fresh flowers in spring, intense leaf colours in autumn. To redeem a voucher for a free meal, she would go to a Mexican restaurant and order a delicious spicy meal. I have also asked her which prize she would like to win in a lottery in Tibia. She would choose a wand, the powerful and mysterious weapon of sorcerers. Using magic requires a lot of wit and wisdom, so I guess she would be a great magician with amazing tricks."
Dear players, there is much more to come in the future as our new department has just started out. So stay tuned and meet Rejana and Mirade on the new boards. We hope to see you there soon!
Let's get together!

The Almost forgotten Past of Snakes
t was already late when Odemara Taleris locked her jewellery shop and headed home quickly. A soon-to-be married couple wanted their wedding rings to be decorated with a gem but unfortunately it took them nearly two hours to agree on a jewel. Her children Zoran and Zarah had just returned from a weekend with their grandparents in Port Hope and she knew that they were already waiting for her. They were always looking forward to her bedtime stories and she did not want to miss this time with her children. When Odemara entered Zarah's room her little ones were already dressed for bed. "Mummy! Pleeease, you have to tell us the story of the snakes!" shouted Zoran while Zarah was clapping enthusiastically. Odemara was a little bit surprised: "Snakes? A story about snakes?" "Yeah, we overheard two adventurers in Port Hope and guess what they were talking about... Snakes! Did you know that you can't loot a snake? Is it true, is it true? You can't open a snake? They don't have any loot?" Zoran was really excited. His mother smiled and sat down on the edge of the bed. "Well, it seems these adventurers did not know much about snakes so let me tell you the true story." Zoran and Zarah settled comfortably on the bed. "Once upon a time snakes could be looted just like all the other creatures you know and it was indeed worthwhile to risk getting poisoned. Snakes are fond of shiny, glimmering and sparkling things so you can imagine that they devoured all gemstones and jewels they could find. However, hard times laid before them. Stories about the untold treasures that snakes carry with them spread like wildfire and soon Zathroth the Destroyer started to take an interest in them. He considered the poor snakes easy prey and a source of great wealth that his minions could use to equip themselves for battle. Zathroth told his evil hordes to hunt them down, take the loot and sell it off whenever they need some short-term money. The snakes could not defend themselves successfully, their poison was not strong enough to knock out a fierce orc. However, it did not take long until Fardos the Creator and Uman the Wise learned about Zathroth's new source of wealth and they came up with a clever idea on how to spoil his plans. With their mighty powers they sealed the snakes for all time so no one could ever open their bodies again to take the treasures inside. Though the snakes were now saved from getting hunted down for gems and jewels, they were panicked and filled with terror. Oh, how they feared Zathroth's whirlwind of fury!" "So he is a very evul god? Is he, mummy?" little Zarah was frowning. "Oh yes, my dear, he is known for his outbursts of temper. Once, he had slain hundreds of his minions in his blind rage just because one of them did not bow low enough. And so it happened that the snakes scattered across the whole world of Tibia to hide from Zathroth’s anger. Some of them even left the land to seek refuge in the restless seas and a few adapted to living in the desert. Nevertheless, all of them still love their place of origin dearly, the swamps around Venore." Zoran could not believe it: "You mean… our Venore? Here is the cradle of snakes?" "Not only their cradle, dear, it is also their grave!" Odemara said with a meaningful look in his direction. "Every old snake, be it a cobra, a sea serpent or just an ordinary green snake, they all return to the place where their ancestors were born when death is close at hand. Then, they go into a deep trance and let themselves sink to the bottom of the swamp to rest beside them in eternal sleep. Today, most people think that snakes do not have any loot but now you know that this is not true." Zarah had already fallen into a gentle slumber, snuggling up to her baby seal doll whereas Zoran’s eyes were still shining with interest: "But… what happens to all the gemstones and jewels they have swallowed during their lifetime?" "Well…," Odemara paused to think for a moment and then added with a twinkle in her eye: "A snake’s body rots away of course but gems do not. Rumour has it, that the swamps around Venore are full of valuables, treasures beyond your wildest dreams." She placed a soft goodnight kiss on Zoran’s forehead, who had listened to her open-mouthed. "G'night Mummy!" he yelled, wiped the kiss off and ran away to his room without the usual fuss. Odemara smiled.
Once in his room, Zoran closed the door and focused on his bedside drawer. His face was glowing with excitement when he approached it slowly, opened it and took out the big sparkling diamond he had found two days ago when he was digging holes with his shovel near the swamps. He looked at it in admiration, turned it over and over in his hands, looked at his old, dirty shovel leaning against the wall, looked back down at his diamond and started to chuckle to himself. He carefully hid it in the drawer again and went to bed. A few minutes later, he was already on his way to dreamland and saw himself sitting on a pile of jewels. Good luck! |

Minor Patch Released
ime has come for another small patch which has been launched today.
What has been changed?
- Some earth elementals in the Tiquanda jungle have fought each other about territorial rights. As many died in those battles, their numbers have gone down.
- Jessica and Odemara have proudly announced that they have both added goblets to their sales list.
- A few NPCs got another class in orthography and grammar. They will be happy to prove it!
- Fun spellwands have been altered so that they cannot be used on invisible characters anymore.
- Last, but not least: a few minor technical corrections on our client have been made along with several small bug fixes concerning map or graphic bugs, e.g. the blue pixels in rubies.
Thanks to everyone who helped with reporting game errors!
See you in Tibia!

Knightmare's Aniversary!!
oday, Knightmare celebrates his 5th anniversary as a member of CipSoft. We would like to thank him for being one of our longest-serving staff members. To mark the special occasion he has agreed to share some thoughts with us. Being around for a while From the first shaky university server to 74 stable servers and a mobile version, from a student project run by volunteers to a successful game company it has been a long and adventurous trip indeed. Things have changed, the content has grown and I had the privilege to be part of it. It is indeed a very special feeling when you can see your ideas coming to life. Of course, you often have doubts about how things will work out and be accepted. Often you will be surprised how your ideas are interpreted or used, but all in all that is one of the fun parts in creating content. And we have created lots of content over the years.
When I discovered Tibia as a player there was little more around than Thais and the lighthouse. There were no vocations and the hardest monster was the cyclops. When you died, you were reset to level 1. As there were only few monsters around and Tibia had a very tough levelling system, players felt like high levels when they had gained level 8 or 9. I started by giving constructive input on game features and later sometimes supplied a bunch of NPCs for Thais, along with new texts for old NPCs. When some trusted players were given the opportunity to expand selected parts of the game world, I as well as several others stepped in. Only a few had the patience and diligence to actually submit suitable work and over the course of time I volunteered for more and more areas that were added one by one. My submissions sometimes were too ambitious and therefore it took one of my oldest creations, the Pits of Inferno, several years to be properly added into the game. At some point along the road I turned my hobby into my profession and I was officially hired by the newly founded company CipSoft. Over the years, I left my fingerprints almost everywhere in Tibia. There are countless stories to be told about all the things that had happened along the way, but those stories are to be told another day. One thing is important though. Despite all the dungeons, monsters, quests and NPCs we added, it is still the players who actually make the game work. If it were not for you, none of us would be here and we would have never had the chance to share our ideas and visions with anyone. It is your dedication to the game that has made all this possible and given me a chance I could only dream of. Because of this there is one thing I would like to tell all of you players that are out there in Tibia: Thank you! Happy Anniversary! |

New Payment Method-Bank Transfer
further step has been reached in the development of the new Tibia payment system. A new payment method is available now to buy premium time for your favourite MMORPG Tibia.
In addition to credit card payments, players from most European countries will be able to buy premium time by bank transfer from now on. In contrast to bank transfers via element 5, you will be able to transfer the money to a bank in your country. This way you will not have to pay an extra fee for international bank transfers any longer. Also, as the bank transfers will be made to a national bank, the whole process will take less time than bank transfers via element 5.
By bank transfer, you can order single premium time periods for 90, 180 and 360 days. Subscriptions cannot be paid by bank transfer. Note that the Tibia payment system is only available for orders from your own account.
